Learn the skills and techniques of street photography and gain confidence behind the camera

Why we're different

The workshops offered by the Street Photography International Collective are unique in the sense that they allow access to the knowledge and experience of three respected street photographers over the course of one day.

How it works

Workshops attendees are split into groups who work with each SPi member over the course of the day, swapping intermittently. The SPi members each have specialty fields they teach. When combined these cover all aspects of the street photography genre, from candid shooting, composition, overcoming the fear of interacting with strangers, honing black and white and colour skills, online marketing and more.

I had a fantastic time on the day with Alan, Walter and Craig, and have benefitted greatly from absorbing their knowledge and individual expertise. The schedule was well thought out and I felt very much at ease as soon as we met.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many people attend workshops?

Between 10 and 15 people.

How long is a workshop?

We meet at a predesignated area for 10am. A briefing of the day is conducted until 11am, and then we shoot until 6pm. There is a 30 minute break for lunch. Participants are invited to an optional drink at a nearby pub at the end of the day.

Do I need to be an experienced photographer to join?

Photographers of all experience levels are welcome. Groups are split into ability level to ensure everyone gets the most out of their day.

Do I need to bring a professional camera?

We encourage every kind of device, from iPhones to Analog, digital DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. Each have the potential to take a great image.

Can I purchase a workshop as a gift?

Yes, but please contact us to notify the name of the recipient.

Are workshops postponed for bad weather?

No. SPi plan two routes per workshop. One predominantly outdoors for good weather, another mainly indoors in the event of rain.

I am under 18 years old. Can I book a place on an SPi Workshop?

You may, but need to be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the day who will also need to book a place.

Can I bring a friend along?

Only paying participants are allowed to attend (unless under the age of 18 with an accompanying adult)

How physically demanding is an SPi Workshop?

We tend to walk around 5-7 miles over the course of the day. As the workshops are based in cities this isn't overly taxing.

Are lunches included?

Refreshments are not provided, but there are coffee shops at the meeting point. Participants are also asked to bring their own lunch with them or purchase it during the designated lunch break.

I had a great day and came away with a lot to think about and a bunch of good shots. Splendid time, thanks.
